Darwin Nunez is very ‘unsure of himself’ at Liverpool right now.
At least, that is the view of BBC pundit Garth Crooks.
Nobody has missed more ‘big chances’ in the Premier League than the £85 million Liverpool striker this season.
And he has certainly returned from the World Cup a player who looks short on confidence.
Between the victory at Aston Villa in the Premier League and the Carabao Cup defeat by Manchester City, Nunez, who earns £179,000 per week, could’ve had four or five goals across both outings.

However, the Uruguay international failed to score in either appearance, missing a number of opportunities in both games.
In the victory at Aston Villa, Andy Robertson set up a wonderful chance early on, but Nunez couldn’t convert.
And Crooks, speaking to BBC Sport, has praised the Scot for his ‘scorcher’ of a ball, but believes the South American is very low on confidence right now.
He said: “The ball for Darwin Nunez from Andy Robertson in the early exchanges of the game against Aston Villa was a scorcher. That the Uruguay striker didn’t add the finishing touch to what was a glorious pass suggests he is more unsure of himself if front of goal than he should be.”
Robertson, an £8 million signing in 2017 [Goal], had a difficult 2021-22 campaign at times, culminating in Kostas Tsimikas slowly but surely putting a question into Jurgen Klopp’s mind about his best left-back.
But the former Hull City defender is, on his day, probably the best left-back in the Premier League.
Not only can he defend, but he’s a frightening prospect going forward too and he’ll have been disappointed to see Nunez miss the chance that he created.
