Morgan Schneiderlin has struggled for consistency since joining Everton from Manchester United in January, and that trend continued last night as the midfielder produced an underwhelming performance in his side’s 3-1 victory at home to Swansea City.

Schneiderlin failed to provide the requisite protection to the Everton back four and he also didn’t contribute much in possession, frequently playing safe passes, before he was replaced by Tom Davies in the 61st minute.

The Frenchman’s performance was all the more frustrating given that he had recently appeared to turn a corner in his Everton career following the appointment of Sam Allardyce as manager.

Schniederlin had produced some encouraging displays in recent games but last night he lacked bite and intensity.

After excelling for Southampton for a prolonged period, Schneiderlin’s move to Manchester United certainly didn’t work out as expected and it now appears that the situation is repeating itself at Everton.

All the while, another Everton midfielder, Idrissa Gueye, is thriving under Allardyce’s guidance and was hugely impressive against Swansea.

Schneiderlin is in danger of becoming a bit part player at Everton and at present he cannot be relied upon to perform consistently.
