The Everton midfielder’s form this season has been a concern.

Although they are currently in ninth place in the Premier League, Everton are fully aware that it will only take a couple of bad results for them to start plummeting back towards the relegation places.

Sam Allardyce’s side are just six points above the drop zone and know that they must start performing consistently otherwise there will be genuine concerns about whether they can stay up.

Upon his appointment as manager, Allardyce had a steadying effect, but matters have taken a turn for the worse of late, with Everton having gone six Premier League games without a win.

Allardyce is constantly seeking to find the right formula with his team selection and one player who doesn’t warrant his place in the starting lineup at present is Morgan Schneiderlin, who produced an underwhelming display in the 1-1 draw against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

Schneiderlin has struggled to perform consistently since joining Everton from Manchester United in January 2017, and, while he has produced some encouraging performances of late, the Frenchman was woeful against West Brom as he failed to offer the requisite protection to his defence and also squandered possession frequently.

Allardyce still appears to have much faith in Schneiderlin, but it is questionable whether the midfielder can be relied upon as Everton battle to avoid relegation.

If Schneiderlin continues to struggle until the end of the season then surely a case will have to be made for selling him in the summer, with his time at Goodison Park having not gone to plan so far.
