Schalke 04 sporting director Christian Heidel has confirmed that Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Nabil Bentaleb is all set to join the club.

The Schalke supremo was speaking at a press conference today when he confirmed the news.

He is quoted by Eurosport as stating Bentaleb completed a medical check with the club a week ago and that he will train with them this afternoon:

“Nabil Bentaleb completed a superb medical check here last Thursday then he returned to Tottenham.

“We have exchanged documents with Spurs and he will probably participate in training this afternoon.

“Nabil is 100% fit but we need to be patient to give him time to integrate.”

It would seem therefore that the official confirmation of this deal is now just around the corner.

As to the nature of the deal, Heidel did not confirm whether it would be a permanent or temporary transfer.

Rumours have suggested that Spurs will loan him out to Schalke on a deal that contains a compulsory buying clause for next summer. The London Evening Standard reports this, and suggests Spurs value him at £15 million.

After impressing during his breakthrough under Tim Sherwood the Algerian international has been used less and less under Mauricio Pochettino recently.

Injuries have not helped, but he barely featured for the club last season and the Argentine made it clear that he was not in his plans for the future of Tottenham Hotspur.
