Schalke are delighted to have signed Breel Embolo.
Switzerland’s Breel Embolo
Schalke have completed the signing of Breel Embolo, announcing the deal a day after Switzerland were knocked out of Euro 2016.
Embolo signs from Basel, where he had been the subject of interest from many European clubs including Premier League big guns.
Schalke posted a video on Twitter announcing the deal, and made a nod to the fact they had beaten competition from Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as three other top sides.

Embolo, 19, is an exciting prospect but he showed at Euro 2016 that he is still very raw, failing to net for Switzerland in four matches.
Manchester United and Arsenal are clubs where there would have been huge expectations on Embolo due to the demands of the fan bases, hungry for success, and the young striker may have found it tough going.
Schalke certainly seem smug at snapping him up, but time will tell whether they were right to do so or not. United and Arsenal, who did not bid for the striker, will simply carry on focusing on other transfer targets.
