Tottenham Hotspur fans have been blown away after Sky Sports posted a graphic comparing Cristian Romero’s stats this season compared to Toby Alderweireld’s last at the club.
Great start
Alderweireld left Tottenham on a free transfer in the summer, with Romero coming in as his replacement.
Spurs are set to pay a sizeable fee to land the Argentine defender from Atalanta, but it looks like it could be money well spent.
The 23-year-old has quickly settled into life with Nuno’s side and now looks like one of the first name on the team sheet.
His combative performances at the back have caught the eye already, with Romero forcing his way into Tottenham’s starting line-up alongside Eric Dier.
And when his stats are compared to Alderweireld’s from last season he comes out on top in almost every department.
For a player to adapt to Premier League football so seamlessly really is impressive.
And Tottenham fans were blown away by the graphic which Sky posted yesterday.
Quality addition
It should, of course, be noted that Alderweireld was showing signs of age in his final season at Spurs.
But for Romero to be so far ahead of him already certainly highlights his quality.
Romero may well turn out to be one of the very best signings Tottenham have made in recent years.
And he is set to play a prominent role tomorrow when Spurs take on Manchester United.
