Arsenal fans were delighted for Reiss Nelson after he opened his account for Feyenoord last night.

Opening his account

Nelson has been loaned out by Arsenal to the Dutch side, and he has made a fairly slow start to life with his temporary club so far.

However, Nelson may have a chance of really kicking on from here now.

The Arsenal man scored Feyenoord’s second in their 2-1 win over Maccabi Haifa.

And Arsenal supporters were pleased to hear that he was off the mark.

Big season for Nelson

If Nelson is to make it Arsenal he will surely have to start scoring far more frequently on his loan spell.

There was a stage where the 22-year-old was regarded as one of the top young talents at the Emirates Stadium.

However, he has now been sent on a series of loans, and seems to have slipped down the pecking order.

Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith Rowe are all younger than him yet have far more prominent roles in Mikel Arteta’s side right now.

As a result, it may be that Nelson is simply playing to put himself in the shop window.

Arsenal surely wouldn’t stand in his way should a sizeable bid come in for the Hale End graduate.

He has now made 12 appearances for Feyenoord, and has an assist to go with his goal.

Feyenoord’s win last night actually means that they went through their entire group stage unbeaten.
