The Tottenham Hotspur forward struggled to make an impact last season.
Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen has admitted to NOS that he expected to be given more chances last season.
The Netherlands international endured something of a poor first season in the Premier League following a £17 million summer switch 12 months ago.
The 22-year-old netted twice in 27 league appearances, but only seven of those were from the start and Janssen suggests that he was unhappy with his bit-part role.

“I would not have minded had the season gone on a bit longer. I would have played more then,” Janssen told NOS.
“It is clear that this was not my best season. But I still learned a lot.
“We finished second in the Premier League, so I think we can be satisfied. I did not have much of a role in Spurs’ successful season. I expected to play more. But this is the way it is.”

Janssen ended up with some 37 appearances in all competitions and only managed five goals – three of which were penalties – so the young striker cannot have too many complaints.
Plus, Harry Kane, the man who kept him on the sidelines for the most part, won the Premier League’s Golden Boot with 29 goals.
Janssen was on the scoresheet for the Netherlands last night as Dick Advocaat’s side edged out Morocco 2-1.
