1) Alan Shearer’s individual record for most Premiership goals against a single opponent is 20, against Leed’s United.
2) Arsenal became the first team in League Cup history to score 6 or more goals in consecutive games. They beat Coventry 6-1 followed by an amazing comeback to win at Reading 7-5 (AET.)
3) During Reading’s defeat to Arsenal they became the first team in League Cup history to lose after scoring 5 goals.
4) Paul Gascoigne’s 56 dribbles during the 1990 world cup were the most during the tournament. The Gerodie achieved 20 more than any other player.
5) Since August 2010 Manchester City’s David Silva has created at least 41 more chances from open play than any other player
6) The two players to receive the most yellow cards in Premiership history are Kevin Davies and Lee Bowyer. The pair has 99 to their name.
7) Only reserve team to play in a recognised major tournament are Castilla CF. The Real Madrid youth team met their senior counterparts during the 1980 Copa Del Ray final. They lost 6-1 but qualified to play in next years Cup Winners Cup.
8) In a bid to finally play an FA Cup game between Norwich City and Blackpool grounds staff tried to use flame throwers to make the pitch playable. It was the 12th attempt at playing the fixture but strangely did not work!
9) Since September 2011 Nottingham Forest has not been awarded a penalty.
10) During his debut season for his school team Arsenal’s Theo Walcott scored 100 goals in 35 games. That kind of form has not managed to be replicated for the Gunners. In his most prolific season for arsenal he scored 13 goals.
