Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after Callum Wilson spoke to the Chronicle about training under Eddie Howe.
What’s the story?
Well, it seems Wilson has aimed a sly dig at Steve Bruce when emphasising how good training has been under Howe so far.
Speaking to the Chronicle, the £20m man said: “The test that we did, the bleep test, was just a six-minute one, but that was to gauge where our fitness levels are.
“We are obviously training with a lot more intensity now.”
Well, that’s hardly subtle, is it?
The use of the word ‘obviously’ just makes Wilson’s comments even more interesting, in our view.
There were plenty of rumours about how poor training was under Bruce at Little Benton, while he was also accused of giving players too many days off.
So, for Wilson to come out and say the Magpies are ‘obviously’ doing things differently now is quite telling – Howe has clearly got down to business fast.
Could Callum Wilson now be even more dangerous for Newcastle?

Somehow, Wilson managed to maintain an impressive scoring rate under Bruce, despite the severe lack of attacking intent under the 60-year-old.
The 29-year-old has 16 goals in 35 games for Newcastle, and with Howe at the helm, we believe he’s only going to get improve on that tally.
After all, Wilson has enjoyed the best spells of his career under the 43-year-old.

In 187 appearances under Howe, the 4-cap England international scored 67 goals – clearly, his methods work well for Wilson.
With Ryan Fraser another to play his best football under Howe, both of the ex-Bournemouth forwards could now thrive.
For now, let’s see what the Newcastle fans on Twitter have been saying about Wilson’s remark on training…
