West Ham United currently sit in the Premier League relegation zone.

Former player Dean Saunders (l) chats with Chris Coleman before the Premier League match between Swansea City and Liverpool at Liberty Stadium on October 1, 2016 in Swansea, Wales.

Dean Saunders has told TalkSPORT that he believes David Moyes can keep West Ham United in the Premier League after he replaced Slaven Bilic at the managerial helm.

West Ham announced on their official website on Tuesday morning that former Everton, Sunderland and Manchester United manager Moyes had replaced Bilic, less than 24 hours after the Croatian boss was sacked.

The Hammers slipped into the bottom three of the Premier League on Saturday after the club suffered a heavy 4-1 loss against Liverpool, with Bilic winning just two of his 11 top-tier matches this season.

Former Liverpool and Aston Villa forward Saunders claims that Moyes will turn West Ham into a unit and steer the Hammers clear of the bottom three before the end of the season.

“I think he will [keep West Ham in the Premier League]. The players he has got there, he will just mould into a unit,” Saunders said, as quoted by TalkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil’s Twitter account.

“He’s got goals in that team, normally when you’re at the bottom of the league, you’ve not got a goalscorer. Sunderland went down with Jermain Defoe – he was their only hope. He’s got people who can score goals in that team.

“They’re not in trouble right now. There has been 11 games gone in the season, six points away from Brighton and Huddersfield but they’re not in desperate trouble. Couple of wins and it is someone else’s turn to get sacked.”

Moyes has been appointed by the Hammers board despite huge backlash from West Ham fans, who have criticised the board’s decision to hand the Scottish boss the job.

West Ham’s new manager will be looking to form an understanding and get his message across to the players on the training ground ahead of their clash against Watford on November 19.
