Tottenham Hotspur made it 11 home wins in a row on Saturday afternoon as they hammered Watford 4-0, keeping the pressure on Premier League leaders Chelsea.
Dele Alli’s curling long range strike put Spurs in front, before Eric Dier and Son Heung-min added goals from outside the box before half time.
Son then grabbed his second and Tottenham’s fourth after the break, converting Kieran Trippier’s pinpoint right wing cross with a first-time finish.
A number of players impressed for Spurs, with two-goal hero Son unsurprisingly stealing the limelight, but there has been plenty of praise for right back Trippier in recent days.
The former Manchester City and Burnley defender, 26, was making just his third Premier League start this season when he lined up against Watford, and he took his chance with five chances created and one assist.
An impressive right back going forward with outstanding crossing ability, Trippier has proven himself as a worthy deputy for Kyle Walker – and his performance against Watford should be the clearest sign yet that Tottenham must ignore Everton’s interest in him.
According to The Mirror, Everton are hoping to lure Trippier back up north this summer, as their first-choice right back Seamus Coleman is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after a gruesome broken leg suffered against Wales last month.
Trippier himself should be wary about such a move given that, whenever Coleman returns, he would likely be demoted to second choice again, just as he is at Tottenham, but Spurs should view him as an important part of the squa

Rampaging right back Walker is now one of the top defenders in England, but with another Champions League campaign on the horizon, Pochettino will be keen to rotate his full backs to keep them fresh, given how much running up and down the flanks they get through.
Trippier has proven that he is perfect for that role of coming into the Spurs side when needed, offering great attacking threat – more so than Ben Davies on the left. Selling him to Everton, who have aspirations of a top four finish, could be a huge error from Spurs, who would need to go out and find another right back content to sit behind Walker whilst also offering quality when given playing time.
Trippier fills both of those requirements, and unless he asks Pochettino for a move away in order to start elsewhere, Spurs should take a look at Trippier’s performance against Watford and see that he is one of the most valuable squad players at White Hart Lane, and must be kept this summer.
