Sardar Azmoun’s comments about joining Liverpool last year, may just suggest that a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers could appeal to him.

Azmoun has caught the eye playing in Russian football, with his performances for Rubin Kazan attracting a lot of attention.

Liverpool have previously been interested in the Iranian international.

However, Azmoun rejected Liverpool as he felt that he would not get regular first-team action at Anfield.

“There were talks of Liverpool having expressed an interest in me during the past winter transfer window,” Azmoun said to the Liverpool Echo last year.

“However, I did not feel the time to move was right. I would have ended up playing a few games and then spent a great deal of time on the bench as Liverpool were only looking to fill a void for a particular part of their season.

“I want to move to a big club to develop as a player and therefore I will time the move with great precision. I am sure I will be playing for a top European club in the near future.”

Azmoun’s comments show how important he values his development, and Wolves could be the perfect team for the next step in his career now.

The Sunday People (April 22nd, page 48) claim that Wolves want Azmoun, as they look to bolster their squad for their Premier League campaign next season.

And the 23-year-old would surely consider himself in with a good chance of making an immediate impact at Wolves.

Nuno’s side may have a sizeable amount of attacking talent, but Azmoun looks to have the potential to play a key role at Molineux.

And the switch may just appeal to Azmoun more than a potential move to Liverpool did previously, as their is a clear way for him to start at Wolves.
