Everton are reportedly keen on Atletico Madrid’s Santiago Arias.

Atletico Madrid defender Santiago Arias has told Algemeen Dagblad in the Netherlands that he hasn’t spoken to Marcel Brands about a move to Everton.

Arias, 27, left PSV Eindhoven to join Atletico Madrid last summer, moving for just €11million (£10million) according to Football Espana.

The Colombian was brought in to replace Sime Vrsaljko following his move to Inter Milan, and he made 20 league starts in his first season with the club.

Atletico are undergoing major changes this summer though, and Arias may well be on the move amid interest back in the Premier League.

The Liverpool Echo reported just days ago that Everton are interested in signing Arias, having allowed right back Jonjoe Kenny following his loan move to Schalke.

Arias is well known to director of football Brands, as he signed him for PSV Eindhoven, whilst they allegedly maintain a strong relationship together.

Arias is currently away at Copa America with Colombia, but has taken the time to discuss the rumours, claiming that he hasn’t spoken to Brands about following him to Everton after their PSV stint together, but didn’t rule out a potential move.

“I didn’t talk to Brands,” said Arias. “I am focused on the Copa América with my country. We will see what the future holds. I still have a contract with Atlético, so my future is there right now,” he added.
