Santi Cazorla has lavished praise on club teammate Jack Wilshere.

Santi Cazorla celebrates scoring the third goal for ArsenalSanti Cazorla had high praise for Jack Wilshere, calling him ‘spectacular’

Arsenal midfielder Santi Cazorla has explained to the club’s official website what makes teammate Jack Wilshere a ‘spectacular’ player.

Both players endured difficult campaigns with the Gunners, making only 18 Premier League appearances between them due to injury troubles.

They are now both back playing regularly, and while Wilshere made the England squad for the Euros, Cazorla can consider himself unlucky having been left out of the Spanish setup.

The former Malaga man spoke to arsenal.com in detail about his thoughts on the 24-year-old England international, describing what makes him a ‘spectacular’ player:

“Arsenal itself has a lot of young talent, such as Jack Wilshere. He is a spectacular player and I just hope he recovers from his injuries because I think he can be a really important player for both Arsenal and the English national team. Jack mixes English and Spanish skills. He has a powerful acceleration, a low centre of gravity and he is left footed, which makes him a joy to watch.”

This kind of praise from a player of Cazorla’s calibre must surely be a confidence boost for Wilshere, whose selection in the national team squad has been criticised by many.

There is no doubting Wilshere’s special talent and incredible potential, but he must start proving that he is capable of playing a full season without being affected by injuries, for both club and country.

Cazorla went on to discuss the perception of the Premier League in his home country, highlighting the box-to-box nature as something the Spaniards are drawn towards:

“Spanish people love watching English football and know what English football is about. They like the box-to-box spirit of the game and that turnaround that every game may have.”

The 31-year-old playmaker will now be working hard over the summer to ensure he is ready for Arsenal’s opening Premier League fixture at home to Liverpool on August 13th.
