When Germany thrashed San Marino 7-0 recently the result was not a surprise. What came as more of a shock was the man who bagged a hat-trick for Germany in the game.
In what was his first appearance for his national side, Sandro Wagner bagged three.
For many fans of Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Blackburn Rovers, this certainly came as a shock.
Two years ago, German paper Sport Bild reported that Hertha Berlin striker Sandro Wagner had interest in his services from three Championship clubs.
Recently relegated Hull City, Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest were the teams mentioned, along with Italian outfit Hellas Verona and Bundesliga newbies SV Darmstadt also said to be keen on the 27-year-old powerhouse.
Accordng to Tutto Mercato Web, Leeds United were also interested in signing the German forward.

In the end he ended up joining Darmstadt and fans of Leeds, Forest and Blackburn probably doubted they would hear of Wagner again.
But he scored 15 goals in 34 games for Darmstadt before heading to Hoffenheim a year ago. He then netted 11 in 32 for Hoffenheim to cement a place in the German national side.

Now he is leading the line for Germany at this summer’s Confederations Cup, looking to emulate greats such as Gerd Muller, Jurgen Klinsmann and Miroslav Klose.
