Sandro Ramirez discloses key reason for Everton move

Sandro Ramirez is one of a number of players to arrive at Everton this summer, and he has explained what made his mind up about a deal.

Sandro Ramirez has suggested to Everton’s official website that Ronald Koeman’s presence was an important reason behind his decision to make the switch to Goodison Park this summer.

Sandro is one of a number of signings the Toffees have made during this window, but perhaps has the toughest task of all of their summer recruits as he prepares to step into the void that Romelu Lukaku has left following his move to Manchester United.

But he suggested that everything is in place for him to enjoy his time on Merseyside, with the dressing room welcoming the 22-year-old in with open arms and with a manager he is looking forward to working with at the helm.

“Ronald Koeman also showed a lot of faith in me and he is one of the main reasons why I’ve come here. I hope he has a big influence on my career,” he told Everton’s official website.

“I had a couple of conversations with him and I felt I had the backing of him, as well as Steve Walsh and the rest of the backroom staff.

“I’m very, very happy to be here. I’ve had a fantastic welcome from the first minute I arrived and I’ve been really accepted by the dressing room.

“I’m glad I made the decision I did – I know I’ve made the right one.”

With a number of exciting signings made in other attacking areas – including the acquisitions of Davy Klaassen and Wayne Rooney – it appears that Sandro will have every opportunity to justify the Toffees’ decision to target him during this window.

And while he is surely going to be compared to Lukaku if he plays regularly for Koeman’s men, what may perhaps help him during his time as an Everton player is the fact that he has arrived for a much smaller fee than a lot of his new teammates.

Sky Sports reported when the deal was completed that he cost the Toffees just £5.25 million – so that should enable him to not feel weighed down at all by the burden of the size of the transfer fee.
