Stefan Effenberg has told Sport1 that Liverpool target Jude Bellingham should stay at Borussia Dortmund, warning him of the struggles of Jason Sancho at Manchester United.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Bellingham has been linked with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool and Carlo Ancelotti’s Real Madrid.
AS have reported that both Liverpool and Madrid are keen on signing the England international midfielder in the summer transfer window and are willing to pay big for him.
Effenberg, though, believes that it would be better for the 19-year-old midfielder if he stayed at Dortmund for one more season at least.
The former Bayern Munich and Germany international midfielder has warned Bellingham about the problems that Sancho has faced at Manchester United.
Winger Sancho, 22, has failed to make a huge impact at Old Trafford since his move from Dortmund in 2021.
Stefan Effenberg on Liverpool target Jude Bellingham
Effenberg said, as translated by BVBBuzz: “I would advise Bellingham to stay in Dortmund, he is still young and can still sign three, four top contracts in the future.
“I also think, unlike Haaland, Bellingham has a strong connection with BVB. He gets total support and trust.
“Therefore, I hope for his own development that he decides to stay. And there is no guarantee elsewhere either. Sancho is the best example of this.”

HITC View: Jude Bellingham need not worry about Liverpool failure
In our view, Jude Bellingham need not worry about any potential failure at Liverpool.
The midfielder will get time to settle it at Liverpool, who need players like him in the middle of the park.
Yes, things have not worked out yet for Jadon Sancho at Manchester United, but look at Erling Haaland.
The Norway international striker moved to Manchester City from Dortmund in the summer of 2022, and he has taken the Premier League by storm.
