Samuel Iling-Junior is settling in at Aston Villa following his move from Juventus this summer.

Aston Villa signed the 20-year-old winger in a joint £34million deal that also included midfielder Enzo Barrenechea.

Douglas Luiz headed in the other direction, with Villa pocketing £43million for the Brazilian’s move to Turin.

Iling-Junior is one of eight new signings for Villa this summer as Unai Emery’s side gear up for their upcoming Champions League campaign.

The London-born winger will hope to fill the void left by Moussa Diaby, but he will have to compete with new arrivals Jaden Philogene and Lewis Dobbin for regular minutes.

Villa fans will be excited by who Samuel Iling-Junior named as his favourite teammate because the young duo have the potential to form a deadly partnership at the club.

Samuel Iling-Junior names his favourite Aston Villa teammate

Four weeks after completing his move to the club, Iling-Junior sat down on Aston Villa’s YouTube channel to answer fan questions.

When asked who his favourite teammate is at his new club, he answered “If I didn’t say his name he’d be fuming, so I’m going to say Morgan [Rogers].”

Villa struck a deal to sign Rogers from Middlesbrough in January and he made a promising start at the club.

He ended the season with 10 goals in all competitions, including three in the Premier League for Villa.

Rogers was described as “dangerous” by Michael Appleton, who gave him his league debut at Lincoln City.

At just 22 years old, Rogers is one of many Villa players who have great potential under Emery’s tutelage.

Aston Villa depth next season

Losing Moussa Diaby and Douglas Luiz weakened Villa’s starting lineup, but they have wasted no time reinvesting that cash.

With Premier League and Champions League games to juggle next season, Emery is showing his experience in competing in Europe by adding plenty of depth to his squad.

Villa particularly have impressive depth across their attacking line which means Iling-Junior is not a guaranteed starter with Leon Bailey, Philogene, Dobbin and Rogers all competing for the same spots.
