Samuel Bastien suggests that he snubbed Everton and Aston Villa for Standard Liege in the summer transfer window.

Bastien has joined Belgian club Liege from Italian outfit Chievo Verona this summer for a transfer fee reported by The Birmingham Mail to be worth £2 million.
The 21-year-old Belgian has claimed that Premier League side Everton and Championship team Villa wanted to sign him before he switched to Liege from Chievo.

The young midfielder has also claimed that Turkish giants Galatasaray and French club Nice wanted him this summer.

Bastien has been quoted as saying by Het Belang van Limburg: “Clubs such as Everton, Aston Villa, Nice and Galatasaray knocked on Chievo’s door, but Standard’s interest was the most concrete and I thought that this project was the best.”

Future move to England?
Bastien is a very talented and promising young midfielder, and perhaps in the future the Belgian will find himself attracting the interest of club in England again.
If the midfielder continues to progress and develop, then he could be playing in the Championship or the Premier League in England soon.
Liege finished second in the 2017–18 Belgian First Division A campaign and stand a chance of qualifying for the Champions League group stage next season.
