At just 16, the Leeds United youngster is making the step up with impressive regularity.

When it comes to giving young players a chance, Leeds United are among the best in the country, which means their fans will always be on the lookout for the next breakthrough star.

Samuel Amissah is only a first-year scholar at Elland Road; however his progress is impressive, going from the under-18s to the under-23s’ bench to a start for the second string in a matter of months.

The latest stage of his development came on Monday when he started for Leeds’ under-23s against Millwall.

That came just a week after he was brought on against Bolton Wanderers’ under-23s and scored an absolute blinder, levelling the game at 3-3 and acting as the catalyst for an eventual 4-3 victory.

As a result he was granted his first start for Leeds’ next generation against Millwall and while he could not recreate his heroics this time round, it is proof that at just 16 Amissah is very much one to watch.

He scored for Leeds’ under-18s and under-23s during pre-season and now he is starting for the latter.

Not bad for a player who is not yet old enough to drive!
