Leeds United star has a chance to create history.

Leeds United are set to welcome back Spanish attacker Samu Saiz from a six game ban.

Saiz was banned for spitting at an opponent as Leeds crashed out of the FA Cup in a loss to Newport.

They have not recovered and have not won a single game in 2018, sacking their manager earlier this month.

Leeds currently sit outside the play-off places in 11th place, eight points back from the top six.

Saiz coming back is a chance to start afresh for both the player and the team.

Leeds’ current trajectory suggests they will not be able to turn their slide around drastically enough to catapult them into promotion contention.

But if Saiz can inspire a fightback to see Leeds clinch a top six place and subsequent promotion, he will go down as one of the club’s most important ever players.

Leeds have been outside the top flight since 2004 and never really looked close to returning.

Saiz’s stupidity in January begun a downward spiral to their current position, and now he must try to redeem himself.

The task may be too much for him, but the stage is set for a triumphant comeback.

One win could quickly lead to two and then a bit of a run begins, even if Leeds fans know by now not to get their hopes up.

Saiz must grasp the challenge ahead and see his big chance to create history. Achieve the impossible over the next few months and he will go down as a club legend.

No pressure Samu…
