The experienced Frenchman joined West Ham United at the start of the month on a short-term deal.

West Ham ace Samir Nasri spoke exclusively to the club’s official website about his return to the game, and shared the first thing that he told his manager Manuel Pellegrini after putting pen to paper on a six-month contract with the east London club.
The 31-year-old Frenchman had been away from competitive football for over a year, before making his competitive debut for the Hammers against Birmingham City in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
Nasri has showcased his outstanding ability during the last decade, having enjoyed spells with Arsenal and Manchester City, but the jury is very much out on whether he still has what it takes to cut it at the very highest level.
The former France international highlighted how he is desperate to prove his doubters wrong during the second half of the season, when speaking exclusively to the club’s official website:

“When I signed, I told the boss that I wanted only one thing; to show everyone that I can still be that guy. I want to prove it to myself. I want to look at myself in the mirror and be able to say ‘You came back and did everything in the right way’.”
Next up for West Ham is a home game against Arsenal on Saturday, and the 31-year-old will be desperate for a chance to impress against his former club.
Nasri still has a lot to prove, however, if he is to have any chance of earning a long-term deal at the end of the season.
