West Ham United midfielder Jack Wilshere has struggled badly with injury this season.

Samir Nasri of West Ham United warms up ahead of the FA Cup Third Round match between West Ham United and Birmingham City at The London Stadium on January 5, 2019 in London, United Kingdom.

Samir Nasri has told West Ham United’s official website that Jack Wilshere is a ‘special’ player.

Wilshere and Nasri played together briefly at Arsenal, and they have been reunited at West Ham now.

Nasri has only just joined the Hammers on a free transfer, and he has arguably made more of an impact than Wilshere already.

Nasri impressed on debut for West Ham against Birmingham City, as his creativity came to the fore.

Wilshere, meanwhile, has struggled with injury – and he has barely featured since signing up.

But Nasri insists that his West Ham teammate is part of a group of very talented players at the club.

The Frenchman said: “Just look at some of the names the club has brought in. Felipe Anderson was the new wonderkid when he signed for Lazio, and two or three years ago they were talking about a move to Manchester United. Jack Wilshere, I know him from when he first came in at Arsenal. He was a wonderkid and he is a special player. [Andriy] Yarmolenko same thing. Chicharito same thing.”

West Ham started the campaign slowly, but they have started to pick up wins frequently of late.

Manuel Pellegrini’s work in the transfer window seems to have paid off, with West Ham now in 10th place in the Premier League table.
