Winnall’s loan from Sheffield Wednesday to Derby County came to an end last month.

Sam Winnall appears to be back at Sheffield Wednesday’s training facility after his loan spell at Derby County ended.
The Owls striker, who is currently sidelined with a cruciate ligament injury, was left to continue his rehabilitation at Derby until the end of last month before moving to the FA’s national football centre at St George’s Park as his teammates began their pre-season preparations without him.
But after posting a photo – along with the caption: ‘Itching to get back out there’ – from Wednesday’s Middlewood Road base on Instagram yesterday (Friday), Winnall has seemingly returned to the Owls.
Winnall was allowed to leave for Derby last summer amid competition from Gary Hooper, Steven Fletcher, Atdhe Nuhiu, Lucas Joao and Jordan Rhodes at Hillsborough.

But the 27-year-old could fare better this season with Rhodes now out of the picture – although a precise date for his return to contention has yet to be disclosed.
The Sheffield Star reported earlier this month that Winnall has been the subject of an enquiry from Wednesday’s city rivals, Sheffield United.
