Leeds United already have one of the top young goalkeepers in the Premier League, but they’re being linked with another stopper.
Illan Meslier enjoyed a fine debut season in the top flight, proving that Marcelo Bielsa was right to go with him over Kiko Casilla.
Still, Leeds are being linked with a new goalkeeper as the Daily Mail stated last month that they want to sign West Bromwich Albion’s Sam Johnstone.
West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are also keen on Johnstone, who has been named in England’s provisional squad for Euro 2020.
Johnstone enjoyed a great season with West Brom despite their relegation, earning praise from all corners as boss Sam Allardyce branded him ‘one of the best’.
It seems unlikely that Johnstone will be playing in the Championship next season, but whether Leeds would pay such a big price for another goalkeeper remains to be seen.
Now, the Preston-born star has told The Independent that he is putting the rumours to the back of his head because he is still very much a West Brom player.

Johnstone noted that he only has one year left at West Brom, but will focus on pre-season with them rather than a possible move to Leeds or West Ham.
“I’m still a West Brom player and I’m just looking forward to going away with England, working hard and being proud of the moment,” said Johnstone. “I know there has been a lot of talk about my future but it’s in West Brom’s hands rather than mine so I’ll just put it to the back of my head.”
“You never know what can happen in football because it’s a crazy world where things can change quickly. I’ve still got a year left on my contract at West Brom so, as things stands, I’ll be going back there for pre-season,” he added.
