Aston Villa are thought to be looking to sign Sam Johnstone from Manchester United on a permanent deal.
Sam Johnstone has admitted to Aston Villa’s official website that there have been times when he has been frustrated about the way his move to Aston Villa has gone.
Johnstone was brought to Villa from Manchester United on loan, at a time when Villa were chasing the play offs.
However, Johnstone suffered a terrible start to the year – both individually and on a collective level.
Villa’s form over the early part of 2017 was poor, and Johnstone’s performances were not particularly encouraging.
But, in recent times, Villa have improved and the United loanee’s own displays have also shown his true talent.
Johnstone has developed into a reliable custodian for Villa to build their side around.
But the youngster admits that things haven’t exactly gone to plan for him since moving to Villa Park.
“It has been a bit frustrating at times – when I first arrived it was difficult because we weren’t getting the results but there were also a lot of new players coming into the team and it took a bit of time to settle,” Johnstone said.
“But I worked hard away from the games on the training pitch doing extra work, extra gym sessions and yoga too.
“Then things started to turn around and get results so I’ve really enjoyed it.
“Everyone says it – but Villa truly is a massive club.”
Villa are now believed to be attempting to sign Johnstone on a permanent deal this summer, with Bruce confirming that he is planning to talk to United boss Jose Mourinho about the goalkeeper’s future in the near future (Villa website).
