Sam Field has heaped praise upon new West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Pardew despite a difficult start to his tenure.

Sam Field has told West Brom’s official website that he thinks that Alan Pardew is brilliant, and insisted that none of the Baggies squad are under any illusions that things will not change overnight at The Hawthorns.

West Brom started the campaign with two wins out of two, but have not enjoyed a victory in the top flight since then and have gradually slid down the table to now find themselves in the position immediately above the drop zone in the Premier League.

After three draws in a row, it appeared that the trip to Swansea at the weekend would be the ideal game to get their campaign back on track. The Swans were bottom in the table, but it was Paul Clement’s men who picked up the three points as Wilfried Bony smashed home the game’s only goal to leave Pardew’s men only outside the bottom three on goal difference.

But Field has seemingly thrown his support behind his manager by insisting that he has been extremely impressed by what he has seen from him so far, and that it would be a mistake to expect a quick fix for the Baggies.

“I like him [Pardew] a lot. I think he’s brilliant. I like his enthusiasm and his knowledge of the game. We know it’s not going to be an overnight change from what we had before so we’ll keep working on the training field and hopefully the results will start to show. The players know that and I think the fans should know that as well,” he told the club’s official website.

“He wants us to be a bit more adventurous going forward and more energetic which is good, we should do that. I think we’ve got the quality in the squad to do that.We haven’t had a lot of luck, sometimes you get that in football. Our work rate and attitude has been first class.”

There are some positive signs at The Hawthorns right now, but it certainly appears that the January transfer window could be a crucial one for the Baggies as they look for the resources that will guide them away from trouble.

But they will face a daunting task trying to avoid letting their confidence take a hit in their next game as they travel to Anfield to face Liverpool on Wednesday.
