Everton midfielder Davy Klaassen has barely featured this season, with Sam Allardyce continuously overlooking the midfielder.
Everton boss Sam Allardyce’s comments about leaving out Davy Klaassen simply do not make sense.
Allardyce has stated to the Liverpool Echo that he cannot pick Klaassen, as he is under pressure to win games.
The former England boss feels that by selecting Klasseen he would be taking a major risk, as he could open himself up to more criticism.
“I don’t have the luxury of saying, ‘go on, give it a go, lad’ because if we lose, it’s me that gets the stick,” Allardyce said.
But Allardyce doesn’t seem to realise that by picking Klaassen he may actually receive praise, rather than criticism.
Everton fans have grown frustrated with Allardyce’s unwillingness to take risks, and they have been calling for Klaassen to be handed a chance.
With the Toffees’ season petering out, there seems to be no better time than to test out the signing from Ajax last summer.
And while Allardyce has taken on board his fair share of criticism, he is opening himself up for more by not picking Klaassen.
If Allardyce showed that he was willing to take risks with his team selection and play attacking football, Everton supporters may be more forgiving of him.
But, as things stand, it seems almost impossible for Allardyce to keep his job for next season.
