Everton fans are frustrated after hearing Sam Allardyce’s reasons behind not signing a left-back.

Sam Allardyce is seen arriving at the stadium prior to the Premier League match between Everton and West Ham United at Goodison Park on November 29, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

Sam Allardyce’s comments about Everton’s search for a new left-back, have led to Director of Football Steve Walsh getting a great deal of criticism on social media website Twitter.

Everton have not yet signed a new left-back this month, despite a lack of options in the position.

The Toffees fans are disappointed not to see a left-sided defender snapped up, and Allardyce’s explanation over why Everton did not move for one has not gone down well.

Sam Allardyce, Manager of Everton looks on prior to the Premier League match between Everton and Chelsea at Goodison Park on December 23, 2017 in Liverpool, England.

He said to the Liverpool Echo: “We have looked at many left-backs and obviously we can’t find the right left-back that we’re looking for.”

Walsh has now come under scrutiny from Everton fans, who feel as if the experienced scout should have found a left-back better than what they already have.

Everton have been forced to play Cuco Martina out of position at left-back for much of the campaign so far, with Leighton Baines out injured.

Martina has struggled badly, and it was thought that Allardyce would make signing a left-back his top priority this month.

Walsh was already under pressure at Everton, as many of the Toffees’ summer signings have not been as successful as hoped.
