Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi is reportedly attracting interest from West Ham United, but he wants to join Tottenham Hotspur.
Sam Allardyce has urged Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi to reject the chance to join Tottenham and move to West Ham instead ahead of Thursday’s 11 pm deadline.
The Mirror claim that the 25-year-old wants to go to Spurs, but his parent club are demanding an £8 million loan fee – more than four times what they wanted from other interested parties in West Ham & Real Betis.
The deadline for the January transfer window is edging ever closer, with Spurs not yet making any additions this month, just like they did over the summer.
Former Premier League manager Allardyce offered his thoughts on the Batshuayi situation as he believes there is only one destination for the attacker.
“I don’t think he would get regular football at Spurs because he’s out an out striker,” Allardyce told Sky Sports News on 31/01/2019 at 9:05 pm. “There is no doubt about his goalscoring record.
“But once Harry Kane’s fit, that is him on the substitutes bench again. It may suit Tottenham to send him on loan. It wouldn’t suit [Chelsea] letting him go to a local rival.
“I think his best choice if West Ham are interested, would be West Ham because there he could play every week and he could have a huge success, which would put huge pressure on David Sullivan to make it a permanent deal. The choice for me would be West Ham for regular football.”
At this moment in time, Fernando Llorente is playing up front for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with star striker Harry Kane on the sidelines with an injury.
Added with, attacking midfielder Dele Alli is also on the treatment table, with the Spurs team lacking depth and quality in their squad.
During his time at Stamford Bridge, Batshuayi has won the Premier League title, under the stewardship of the now sacked Antonio Conte – he scored the title-winning goal away at West Brom.
Nonetheless, during his time at the Bridge, he played 53 games, scoring 19 goals and supplying four assists to his teammates, according to transfermarkt.
