Sunderland are currently on tour of Austria, as Sam Allardyce’s side step up their preparations for the upcoming campaign.

Sam Allardyce has told Sunderland’s official website that he has been very surprised by the quality of the football on display during his side’s pre-season tour.
Sunderland have only recently returned to training, but Allardyce has been quick to give them some technical drills.
And the experienced boss has been impressed by the standard of training, over the early weeks of pre-season.

“I’m really surprised and pleasantly pleased with the ability to do as many football sessions as we’ve done and the quality of it,” he said. “A lot of young players are here with us, and we’re hoping that they’re going to flourish and play a part. How many? It’s too early to tell.”
Sunderland are currently in Austria, as they aim to regain some match fitness before the start of the new season.
The Black Cats have included a number of their most promising youngsters on the trip, with Allardyce keen to give them a chance.

Sunderland outlined their wish to bring more youth prospects through towards the back end of last campaign, with a handful of youth products being handed their first-team debuts.
Sunderland are due to start their competitive season next month, when the Premier League gets underway.
Allardyce’s side first travel to Manchester City, before hosting Middlesbrough in their opening two matches.
