Everton fans won’t be overjoyed by Sam Allardyce’s comments.
Sam Allardyce angered Everton fans on Saturday by using his last substitution to introduce Morgan Schneiderlin instead of £27 million striker Cenk Tosun.
The Toffees were leading 3-0 at home to Crystal Palace at the time and Everton fans were desperate to see the Turkish hitman after being benched by Allardyce in favour of Oumar Niasse, who scored.
And judging by Allardyce’s latest comments, he has no intention of bowing to pressure from the fanbase.
The 63-year-old confirmed to the club’s official website this week that he intends on keeping faith with Niasse, who has two goals and one assist in his last four Premier League games.
Such a claim suggests that the Everton boss will continue to keep Tosun on the bench and, considering that he didn’t make it on last weekend, there’s no guarantees that the 27-year-old will even be used in a cameo role when the Merseyside club visit Watford on February 24 – their next match.
By the same token, fans of the Goodison Park side won’t care if Niasse is doing the business every week.
But the Senegalese striker isn’t the most reliable of goalscorers and Allardyce’s consistent snubs of Tosun – who has played 12 minutes of Everton’s last three games – are only justified if his team-mate is scoring for fun, which he isn’t.
