Everton manager Sam Allardyce has told the club’s official Twitter account that he thinks Dominic Calvert-Lewin is getting better and better this season.
After picking up a 1-1 draw at Liverpool on Sunday, Everton travelled to Newcastle United on Wednesday night in search of another positive result – and that’s just what they got.

With Jonjo Shelvey picking up a late red card, Newcastle couldn’t get back into the game, handing Everton a 1-0 victory as Sam Allardyce continues to steady the ship.
Allardyce will be looking for more joy on Monday night against Swansea City, and he has been praising one young player ahead of that game.
Striker Calvert-Lewin has impressed in the Everton attack this season, stepping up to fill the void left by Romelu Lukaku, with his pace and energy impressing many.
The 20-year-old forward – signed from Sheffield United by Ronald Koeman in 2016 – was handed a new deal until 2023 on Thursday, and it’s no surprise given the praise given to him by manager Allardyce.
Speaking to the club’s official Twitter account, Allardyce reflected on Calvert-Lewin’s performance against Newcastle by suggesting that he is coping well with the pressure of playing up front on his own, praising him for ‘getting better’ as the weeks go by and for his hold-up play.
“Young Dom up front is getting better, I think, as times goes on,” said Allardyce. “He seems to cope with the pressures that he’s got on him, and he held it up well,” he added.
