Sam Allardyce should heed Kevin Campbell’s advice about Ross Barkley

Ross Barkley has been linked with a move away from Everton in the January transfer window.

Kevin Campbell has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Everton manager Sam Allardyce should make use of Ross Barkley as the season progresses.

England international attacking midfielder Barkley has been on the sidelines since the summer due to a hamstring injury.

Everton manager Allardyce recently suggested to Sky Sports that the 24-year-old could be back in action soon.

Barkley has been linked with a move away from Everton in the January transfer window, with his current contract at the Toffees running out at the end of the season.

According to The Gambling Times, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has told the club’s hierarchy to try to do a deal for Barkley next month.

It has been reported that Everton want as much as £20 million for the England international in order to sell him in the January transfer window.

Former Everton striker Campbell has suggested on Twitter that manager Allardyce should make use of Barkley as the season progresses, an advice that the former Sunderland manager should heed.

Everton have recovered from their disappointing start to the season, and if they are end up in the top seven or even the top six, then the quality of Barkley will be important.

The Englishman is a hugely talented attacking midfielder, and the Toffees would be better team in the second half of the season if he remains at Goodison Park.

Meanwhile, Allardyce has praised Everton youngsters Jonjoe Kenny, Dominic Clavert-Lewin and Mason Holgate, and told The Telegraph: “Calvert-Lewin is a really exciting talent. Jonjoe’s decision-making for such a young man is impressive while Mason’s potential is becoming a reality.”

Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier commented on the future of Barkley on the Gillette Soccer Saturday show on Sky Sports News last Saturday afternoon (1:04pm, December 16, 2017), and said when asked if it is inevitable that the attacking midfielder will leave in January: “I am not sure it’s inevitable.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if perhaps at the end of the season he possibly left because I think when you have been out that long injured, it’s always a little bit of a risk for somebody to come in and pay big bucks for you when you haven’t really proved that you are back to 100% fitness yet.”
