Sam Allardyce should have sent Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin out on loan, rather than Ademola Lookman

Everton sent Ademola Lookman out on loan to Red Bull Leipzig.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton had the option to loan out Dominic Calvert-Lewin to another Premier League side on deadline day, and that may have been a better option than sending Ademola Lookman away.

Everton decided to send Lookman on a temporary move to Red Bull Leipzig in Germany, and that decision has not gone down well at Goodison Park.

Lookman has shown flashes of exciting promise during his time with Everton, but has barely been given a chance to impress.

Sam Allardyce has not handed Lookman a Premier League start since taking charge at Everton, which meant that the youngster wanted a move elsewhere in attempt to get more game time.

But there is an argument to suggest that Everton would have been better off keeping Lookman and loaning out Calvert-Lewin.

Lookman offers Everton qualities which they don’t have, in terms of his skill and direct approach.

Calvert-Lewin, on the other hand, appears to have slipped down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

The former Sheffield United man has had plenty of chances this term, but has never quite looked like a prolific scorer at Premier League level.

Calvert-Lewin could, therefore, have benefitted from some time away from the spotlight at Everton – and Sam Allardyce may just have sent the wrong prospect out on loan.
