Everton have moved into mid-table under Sam Allardyce’s stewardship.

Unsworth had been touted as a potential candidate to takeover at Everton permanently, when Allardyce was named their Toffees boss.
However, Allardyce claims that Unsworth wanted out at Everton, as the players’ confidence was so low.
“We have managed to overcome the chaos,” he said.

“Even David Unsworth said he could not wait for the new manager to be appointed. He was in for (eight) games and he was saying before the West Ham game, ‘get me out of this position, get a new manager appointed because I am struggling to cope and these players have got no confidence’. That is where I came from.”
Allardyce’s claims rather fight against the growing tide of ill-feeling against him at Goodison Park.
Vocal sections of Everton’s support are calling for change next season, as they have failed to be inspired by the former England boss.

Allardyce has helped Everton avoid relegation, but the style of football on display has been criticised.
Many Everton fans have asked for Allardyce to be more attacking, and they have not been satisfied with the lack of entertainment on display.
Everton are next in action later this evening, when they take on in-form Newcastle United at Goodison Park.
