Everton new manager Sam Allardyce savages Watford manager Marco Silva’s credentials.
Sam Allardyce made a brutal dismissal of Marco Silva’s credentials, saying that the Watford manager didn’t deserve to be the next Everton manager ahead of him.
Silva emerged as Everton’s first choice target, following the sacking of Ronald Koeman in October. The 40-year-old was even offered a compensation package of £10 million by Farhad Moshiri.
However, Watford rejected all advances as they didn’t want to part ways with their manager.
Allardyce was initially not in the running for the vacant Everton job, but he came into focus again when Watford didn’t allow Silva to leave the club.
The former Crystal Palace manager, offering a confident appraisal of himself, said that his track record suggests that he is a more deserving candidate than Silva. He further pointed out that Silva got Hull City relegated.
When asked whether if he is worried that Everton could go for Silva in the summer when he will have one year remaining on his contract, Big Sam said –“that is perception”, but the reality is different.
“Let’s put it this way,” said Allardyce. “If you look at my track record why wouldn’t I be here irrespective of Marco Silva?,” said Allardyce as quoted by The Times.
“I have every respect for Marco Silva, and I am not criticising Marco Silva, but Marco Silva’s track record has got no comparison whatsoever with mine because he got Hull City relegated.”
