Sam Allardyce relegation record has become a trending topic as Leeds United turn to the 68-year-old for help.
The Whites have reacted after losing 4-1 to Bournemouth on Sunday by bringing the Englishman back to the Premier League, where he hasn’t worked since leaving West Brom in May 2021.
With just four games remaining of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign for Leeds, let’s take a look at Allardyce‘s relegation record…
Sam Allardyce relegation record
Well, the Dudley-born tactician has only ever been relegated from the Premier League once.
That came in his last job, as he failed to keep West Brom in England’s top-flight after taking over when the Baggies were 19th in the Premier League.
Allardyce won four of his 26 games in charge, and West Brom finished where they were when Allardyce arrived – 19th.
Nevertheless, the experienced manager has previously overseen some fine achievements, including a couple of great escapes from relegation.
Allardyce kept Bolton in the Premier League after getting them promoted from the Championship in the 2000/01 campaign, before guiding the Trotters to safety and then to the UEFA Europa League.
Allardyce also took over from Dick Advocaat at Sunderland in the 2015/16 campaign when the Black Cats were winless after their opening eight games.
They eventually finished 17th and survived before Allardyce was offered the England job, which he accepted.

The new Leeds boss also took over from Alan Pardew at Crystal Palace when the south Londoners were nosediving towards the Championship in the 2016/17 season, overseeing wins against Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool to eventually finish 14th.
Allardyce then took over an Everton side in danger of relegation during the 2017/18 campaign before guiding the Toffees to eighth place.
Clearly, Allardyce knows what he’s doing when he finds himself embroiled in a relegation battle, which represents good news for Leeds.
