The Black Cats drew 2-2 with the Reds on Saturday afternoon.
Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce took to Twitter on Sunday morning to celebrate Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Liverpool.
Indeed, a relegation-threatened side can’t always afford to celebrate draws but, 2-0 down at Anfield, this was definitely a bonus point hard earned by the Black Cats.
The Reds were in control throughout and a 77th-minute mass walkout from fans certainly swung the momentum, before Alberto Moreno gave a very poor free-kick away and Simon Mignolet made a typical Mignolet error as Adam Johnson netted the subsequent set-piece.
But Sunderland still had to take advantage and, unlike the protesting Liverpool fans (who had good reason to do what they did), the away fans stayed throughout.
And Allardyce sent a message to his side’s ‘amazing’ supporters after their comeback point.

Can the Black Cats fight off relegation this season? And, if so, who will go down in their stead?
