Sunderland are yet to make a signing in the summer transfer window.
Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce
Speaking to the Sunderland Echo, Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce says he is currently focused on big name signings rather than loan deals or free transfers.
It had been anticipated that the Black Cats would be busy in the summer transfer window after narrowly avoiding relegation last season.

The window officially opened on Friday but as yet the club have not added any new signings to the squad.
That is likely to have disappointed the club’s fans, who will be hoping Allardyce can enjoy the same kind of success he had with his signings in the January transfer window.

Allardyce has moved to reassure them though, saying he is focused on big name signings rather than free transfers or loan deals at this moment in time.
“I have not signed any of the free transfers or loan players just yet, because that can be done later on,” he told the Sunderland Echo.
“I’m basically focusing on the top players that I need for the team this year and waiting patiently for those. We want to get those who can go straight into the team and make an impact.”
Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe
It now remains to be seen what work that Sunderland will do in the summer transfer window.
Allardyce will be keen to add several signings to his squad given how close they came to relegation from the Premier League last season.
His first move will surely be to add another striker to his ranks given how heavily they relied upon Jermain Defoe last year.
