Sam Allardyce has his say on Tottenham ace Kane’s injury

Tottenham striker Harry Kane has pulled out of the England side to face Germany and Brazil.

Sam Allardyce has told TalkSPORT that Tottenham Hotspur could have prevented Harry Kane from playing for England due to a lack of “back-up” in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad.

Kane, 24, withdrew from the England squad to face both Germany and Brazil on Tuesday with a knee injury, after picking up a knock in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The talking point surrounding players dropping out from England’s squad has become a hot topic recently, with Kane being joined by Jordan Henderson, Harry Winks, Dele Alli, Fabian Delph and Raheem Sterling in dropping out.

Former England manager Allardyce has claimed that the injury could be purely legitimate, but stated that Tottenham do not have the kind of players able to replace their number 10.

“It’s a friendly, and there has to be some give and take,” Allardyce said, as quoted by TalkSPORT presenter Alan Brazil’s Twitter account. “In Harry Kane’s situation, he is the main striker for Tottenham and there’s not a lot of back-up.

“He’s gonna play a huge amount of games. It’s a difficult position for the England manager. If the medical reports say he’s unfit to play in a few days’ time, then he could be fit for the game after the international break. It could be purely legitimate.”

Three Lions manager Gareth Southgate has called up Michael Keane, Jack Cork and Jake Livermore to replace his injured stars, with now only 22 players to choose from ahead of Friday’s clash against Germany.

Kane is now likely to be fit to face Arsenal on November 18 in the first north London derby of the season, which will be played at the Emirates.
