Everton managed to claim a 0-0 draw West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns yesterday.
Bolasie has been out for over a year with injury, but he was surprisingly selected to start by Allardyce at the Hawthorns.
The 26-year-old winger helped Everton pick up a 0-0 draw against West Brom but, understandably, did not have his usual influence on the game.
Bolasie looked slightly rusty in possession, and Allardyce admits that the winger still has some way to go before he is back to his best.
“Yannick was a long way off his best but it was great to have him back,” Allardyce said.
“When he’s fully functional again he’ll give us genuine pace and another dimension we haven’t got at the moment.”
Bolasie’s return for Everton has been a long awaited one, as he offers the Toffees’ a new outlet in attack.
Everton have missed Bolasie’s pace and trickery this season, with many of their creative players preferring to drop deep, rather than run at defences.
Everton’s draw with West Brom has extended their unbeaten run since Allardyce took charge to seven games, with the improvement in their performances being vast.
The Toffees have now climbed up into ninth place in the Premier League table, and look a much more solid outfit than they previously did under Ronald Koeman.
Everton are next in action against Bournemouth, when Bolasie could feature again.
