Everton boss Sam Allardyce has been criticised for failing to provide entertainment since taking charge.
Everton supporters have been demanding more entertainment, but their side have failed to provide that in recent weeks.
The Toffees’ attacking play has been static and uncreative, and they mustered up just one shot on target at Vicarage Road.
However, Allardyce claims that he would have felt satisfied if Evertonn managed to pick up a point against Watford.
“Away games are about results more than anything, not how we perform,” Allardyce said.
“If we don’t perform to our best, make sure we nick it. Doesn’t matter how we do it, we’ve just got to do it somehow. A 0-0 here would have been fine.”
In the end, Everton were beaten 1-0 by the Hornets, with Troy Deeney bagging the winner.
The defeat has caused anger among Everton suppoters, and Allardyce’s critics will only be more wound up by his comments.
Everton spent big in the summer, and arguably should always be targeting three points at struggling sides like Watford.
The Goodison Park crowd’s biggest criticism of Allardyce has been his defensive approach, and comments like these show that his values do not match up to the supporters’ at Goodison Park.
