Walcott has impressed since joining Everton in the January transfer window from Arsenal.
Sam Allardyce has told Everton’s official website that Theo Walcott is becoming a “big player” at Goodison Park as he continues to impress on Merseyside since his move from Arsenal in January.
The 29-year-old scored the only goal of the game on Monday night, as he latched onto Yannick Bolasie’s cross to fire past Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to claim all three points against the Toon.
The England international has taken his Everton tally to three goals in 12 games for the Toffees, as well as adding two assists, as he continues to provide the fear factor in the Toffees’ attack.
Allardyce, who lured him to Goodison Park from Arsenal, described the former Southampton star as a big player and believes his presence gives Everton another dimension in attack.
“Theo showed his quality again in the final third,” Allardyce said. “His arrival has given us another dimension going forward. He offers a lot of pace and a lot of ability to go with that. He is on the way to proving for us he’s a big player for us.
“Theo’s got three goals now and (fellow January signing) Cenk Tosun’s got four. That shows we are better in the goal tally stakes than perhaps we were before the January window opened.”
Walcott, who cost Everton £20million in January, put pen to paper on a three-and-a-half-year deal with Allardyce’s side which The Guardian claim is worth £110,000 a week.
The versatile forward is expected to start once again on Saturday, as the Toffees travel to Yorkshire to face Huddersfield Town. Everton beat Huddersfield 2-0 earlier in the season thanks to goals from Dom Calvert-Lewin and Gylfi Sigurdsson.
But with the latter injured and Tosun expected to start over Calvert-Lewin, Allardyce will be hoping his new-look attack can put David Wagner’s men to the sword.
