The Uruguayan is a free agent after leaving Juventus in the summer and has struggled with a groin injury.

The Selhurst Park boss was speaking to the press today ahead of Palace’s meeting with Bournemouth in the Premier League tomorrow night.

He was unveiling the new signing of former Sunderland left-back Patrick van Aanholt when he confirmed there was a possibility of signing the former Juventus man:

Caceres has not played a competitive game of football since February last year after suffering a series of groin problems.

The 29-year-old’s contract at Juventus expired in the summer and he received no new offer due to his injury woes. He is however now said to be fighting fit and ready to find a new club – with plenty of teams likely to be interested in his services.

Caceres has an illustrious history with the likes of Barcelona and Juventus. He has one La Liga and Champions League medal to his name as well as five Serie A crowns – not to mention the Copa America.

Crystal Palace will no doubt hope the lure of London can attract 68-cap Caceres to join the club on a free transfer.
