Everton are looking at bringing in one new player on deadline day.

Sam Allardyce, Manager of Everton looks on during the Premier League match between Everton and West Bromwich Albion at Goodison Park on January 20, 2018 in Liverpool, England.

Sam Allardyce has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, which was broadcast on 31st January on TalkSPORT, that Everton are hoping to sign a player on loan today.

Everton have brought in Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun already this month, but one further arrival could move to Goodison Park today.

Allardyce has confirmed that Everton are wanting a loan signing today, as they look to strengthen their squad further.

“We might today have an addition, but that would only be a loan player,” Allardyce confirmed.

Although Allardyce wouldn’t confirm the identity of the player Everton were trying to sign, it seems highly likely to be Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala, who they have been strongly linked with in the Daily Mail.

City signed Aymeric Laporte yesterday, which has made Mangala available.

Everton have looked shaky at the back this season, and Mangala could come straight into Allardyce’s starting line-up.

The Toffees are actually in Premier League action later this evening, when they take on Leicester at Goodison Park.
