Sam Allardyce defends Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers.

Former Newcastle United and West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce compared Celtic’s current situation to that of Tottenham Hotspur on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (6:55am, October 26, 2018).

Allardyce made the comments while discussing Brendan Rodgers’s current situation at Celtic.

The Hoops are not having the greatest of seasons, as they are not leading the Scottish Premiership table and are playing in the Europa League instead of in the Champions League.

Celtic lost star striker Moussa Dembele to Marseille in the summer transfer window and did not make major investment in the squad.

As for Tottenham, the Premier League did not sign anyone in the summer transfer window, and the North London outfit are struggling in the Champions League.

Spurs, though, are going strong in the Premier League and remain in the race for the league title this season.

Former Sunderland and Everton manager Allardyce has compared Brendan Rodgers’s current situation at Celtic to that of Tottenham.

Allardyce said on The Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Friday morning (6:55am, October 26, 2018) while defending Celtic manager Rodgers: “It’s not Brendan’s fault.

“The reasons are that the club have stood still. They haven’t strengthened. A little bit like Tottenham. There are certain budgets or restrictions going around, particularly at Celtic.”
