Wayne Rooney looked like Gylfi Sigurdsson’s most likely replacement for Everton in the number 10 role.

Everton are set to be without Sigurdsson for a considerable amount of time, which leaves Allardyce searching for another creator.
The Icelandic international had been in strong form over recent weeks, but the Toffees will now need to find a replacement.

Rooney looked the most likely replacement for Sigurdsson, but it could be that the England international continues in his defensive midfield role.
Rooney impressed in front of Everton’s defence in Allardyce’s side’s last match.
And it could be that Davy Klaassen or Nikola Vlasic are given a chance in the number 10 role now.
“Who knows [where Wayne will play],” Allardyce said, when asked if Rooney would play in Sigurdsson’s slot.

“He produced a top quality performance deeper, in Gana’s position, last week.”
Klaassen did come on as a late substitute for Everton last week, but he has barely been given a chance this term.
Vlasic, meanwhile, has fallen out of favour since Allardyce took charge and has been used very sparingly.
Everton are next in action at the weekend, when they take on struggling Stoke City.
