Crystal Palace suffered a humiliating 5-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Goals from David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi earned City full three points against Sam Allardyce’s side.
Allardyce said after the match that all five goals could have been avoided. He bemoans the fact that Palace have “gifted them five goals” as they were punished heavily.

The result puts Palace in a spot of bother as they are still yet to secure Premier League safety. Palace are 16th in the Premier League with 38 points, four points above Hull City who lost 2-0 to Sunderland at the KCom stadium.
The defeat puts a severe dent to Hull City’s survival hopes. The Tigers will face Crystal Palace next weekend, which promises to be a cracker of a match.
Allardyce said it is in Palace’s hands now to try to beat Hull and secure their safety for another season.
The former Sunderland manager says that he hopes that today’s 5-0 defeat is just a bad day in the office, and that the players will pick themselves up next week against Hull City – a fixture he described as Palace’s “biggest game of the season”.
“The lads didn’t apply themselves correctly and Manchester City thoroughly punished us. We can’t complain about the scoreline,” said Allardyce to BBC Sports.
“It lies in our hands by trying to beat Hull week next Sunday. We have to put it right by returning to winning ways.”
“Hopefully that is a one-off and the lads have got it out of their system ahead of the biggest game of the season next week at home to Hull.”
